How to Create a Winning Blackjack Strategy

blackjack_picBlackjack is one of the more popular casino card games that players tend to love. There are variations of blackjack but the classic game which is also referred to as 21 pitches the players against the dealers. Unlike other card games where players are against each other this one requires you to get as close to 21 points as possible without busting while being higher than the dealer to actually win. Each player including the dealer receives two cards which will be counted together to determine if you need more cards. In order to calculate the point total of your cards the kings, queens and jacks all count as ten points along with the tens in the deck. The ace can be counted as one point or eleven depending on what benefits you more. The rest of the cards are at face value which means the two is worth two points or a five is worth five points. Most casinos require that a dealer to take what is called a hit if their two cards combined equal sixteen or less. Some casinos require dealers to take a hit if they have a soft seventeen which is an ace and a six. Once you have your cards you will be asked if you want to take a hit which means additional cards or stand which means you are happy with the cards that you have. If your cards are 21 or below you will stay in the hand until the dealer reveals their card and if your hand is higher and closer to 21 than the dealer then you win. If you and the dealer have the same hand then it will be a push which means you do not win or lose your original bet. If your first two cards is an ace with a ten or face card you get a blackjack and will be paid automatically unless the dealer also has blackjack.

Now that you understand the basics of the game it’s time to discuss a bit more on strategy and things that you can do to help increase your odds of winning. The first thing that you should do is to set a budget for your blackjack play. This will help you to know what your total amount is and how much should be wagered on each hand. Learning money management is an important part of the strategy.

You need to be able to wager smartly which should also be a part of your strategy. This means if you often take a hit when the dealer is showing a two and you have a total of twelve in your hand that you should continue to do so. If you choose to stand in hopes that the dealer has a ten under there and must take a hit then continue to stand. While most people would automatically stand on a 16 or 15 a 12 or even a thirteen can be a guessing game especially if the dealer gets a 3 or 5 because their total will be higher than yours. However, the rule of thumb should always be to stick to one process.

One of the biggest things that you can do to help improve your strategy is to avoid playing blackjack on tables that have various decks in play. Playing with 1-2 decks allows you to weigh and calculate your odds better. If you have playing with 5 or 6 decks there is almost no way to be able to gauge the possibilities of what cards may lay ahead.

These are simple tips but will help to create a strategy that will help to protect your money and will help you to make wise decisions when it comes to placing blackjack bets.
